Onward Pilgrims!

Stale Bread, No Circus is moving onward in an effort to become something more than a poetry journal. It is unfortunate that there is such a lack of serious Christian poetry. There are those journals out there that are keeping alive the spirit of the Gospel, but overall orthodox Christian poetry has been in serious decline in this modern age. You were once hard pressed to find non-theological work and that shall be the case again when we write poems before the throne in New Eden. For the sake of concision and all of that being said…

Stale Bread No Circus is branching out to find theologically minded poets who desire to write explicitly Christian material! I, C. Ellis Osterbrock, will man the helm as the sole editor for now. If you are interested in keeping your hands busy as a part of SBNC in other ways beyond submitting poetry, please contact me! SBNC will be a poetry collective dedicated to the dark and twisted world of Christian poets. We will see where this ship takes us.

The initial proposal is that this press will produce online poems as well as collections of other assigned (prompt) writings annually. The first assignment is to write on Habakkuk 3. But there are some particulars that must be addressed:

1. Read all of Habakkuk

2. Write no more than 100 lines and no less than 3 lines. Whatever format.

3. This is a “family” press. That means vulgarity is only (read: probably not) permitted if it is completely necessary. This is a place for orthodoxy, so no condemning others or the un-elect.

4. Soli Deo Gloria.

Due date, August 31st, 2017. Submissions must come in PDF format emailed to pastorchrisosterbrock@gmail.com. No simultaneous submissions. Include your name, city and state, any other personal details that may be pertinent to your submission or to the story.

I will respond to you personally for more information regarding the submissions and final results of collection.

Thank you sisters and brothers.
