On Debtedness

Getting back into the writing discipline, so here is a simple eight-syllable construction from tonight.

Now hear the song of debtors freed

By He that satisfies all need

The Master owed becomes the price

His everlasting blood suffice

What justice! Unrelenting You

Redeeming Your discordant few

Your chosen brought in from the field

Eternal One plucks harvest yield

No word has fallen from Your tongue

In darkness Satan’s neck is wrung

For wrath abides on me no more

Lord Jesus Christ, my sin He bore

Atoning One His Spirit sent

In sanctifying power meant

Alive predestined to this call

His sacrifice made for His all

Here I am to be justified

Glory-to-come in Heavens-tide

It washes for His glory’s sake

No synergy ever at stake

Grace to grace and all faith You give

Not as I die but as You live

What debt I know and ever so

You give Your love that I may know

My triune Sovereign, hear this song

Worthy of praise forever long

In rightness scorn my sin till death

And ever cast Your living breath
