When I’ve Met My Limit

I could not have been blinded to Your brightness

Had You not chose in me to see

Had You not made the blinded blind

Had You not cured the blind in me

I know I act not wholly Yours,

But by Your steadfast grace.

I know I am a mercy vessel

Indwelled, You fill my space.

In cleansing streams my eyes can see

In rushing breaths I hear

I know that I am with You now

I know someday I will see clear

Dimly have I read Your words

But enlivened You make known

In hearts that amble through this grave

You make us to live at home

And home is not where I would have it

Blind but for Your grace in me

I know my home is with You-Eternal

By Christ I’m captive-free

Sanctified to experience Your glory

My Lord’s righteous claim is sure

All that glows out of my darkened eyes

Is what Christ alone made pure

Work in me to my exhaustion

For I know my limit, not Yours
